In February 2020, Shoot The Frame and ViewSonic started a conversation about the concept of having an official judging monitor for the STF Photo Awards. The concept being; every month the STF Awards judges would use the ViewSonic Professional Monitors to judge the entries, giving us an increase in the governance, consistency and color accuracy of our process.
We were excited by the concept from the beginning, but we didn’t expect the monitors to be as delightful and precise as they are. We have been using them to judge the STF Monthly Awards since April 2020 and have been super impressed, so much so, we thought we would share a little review.
We are now using two types of ColorPro Professional Monitors:
The VP2785-4K which has a crystal clear 27 inch 4k flat monitor absolutely stunning quality for photographers, and the VP3481 which is a gorgeous 34 inch curved monitor which has not only been excellent for judging the STF Awards, but also for designing our newest Shoot The Frame features. Our designers are loving the increased efficiency due to the massive available screen area.
Beyond the quality and color accuracy of the actual pixels, the aesthetics of the ColorPro monitors are magic. Very simple, clean lines with a subtle use of the ViewSonic logo. The on screen controls are neat and tucked away so they don’t distract the eye when working. The STF team had the monitors set up and plugged in within a matter of minutes and we were instantly impressed. It is fair to say we can’t recommend the ViewSonic Professional Monitors enough, particularly for photographers, and especially if color accuracy if something you are looking to achieve in your workflow.
The ColorPro monitors have been an absolute delight to use for judging our photography contests. We will continue to use them from here on out.
